National Building & Restoration Corporation was hired to reform and restore statue monuments deteriorated by extreme weather conditions. One statue of the Virgin Mary was severely damaged by a lightning strike. NBRC’s restoration masons had to skillfully reconstruct her head and veil. Features of her face and garments had to be hand sculpted and feather finished. Succeeding work included applying finished specialized paint, color blended until the restoration work matched the predominate existing conditions.

Due to water intrusion and spalling from Freeze/Thaw events, Repairs to the Crucifix included removing unsound masonry in areas down to a solid substrate using high strength repair mortars we rebuilt and reshaped the face, shoulders, arms, and upper torso of the statue back to original condition and applied specialized paints for additional protection from the elements.

It was fascinating to observe these monuments being restored to their original glory. We are proud to showcase this unique job perfected for our client.
